Privacy, in plain words

What we keep

Your name and email, the people you add (names, relationships, birthdays you choose to add), your recordings, their titles and notes, the delivery dates you choose, and automatic transcripts of your recordings. How long: a message is kept until it opens, then for one month so everyone can save it. After that it is moved out of everyone’s reach, including ours in the app, and deleted a year later.

Where it’s kept

In Amazon Web Services in Mumbai, India. Recordings sit in private storage and are only reached through links that expire within hours.

Who can hear it

You, and the people you chose for each message, from the moment it opens. Relatives you invite to a capsule can hear only their own message. Our staff don’t browse your messages.

Family links

A link you share for a capsule lets someone record for it. A personal link is just for that person. Every link stops working when the capsule is sealed or removed.

Transcripts

We use Amazon Transcribe to turn speech into text so your family can read along. Transcripts are labelled as automatic and may contain mistakes.

Your choices

Save each message to your phone within a month of it opening. Download what is still in Pre-sent from Settings. Deleting your account removes your family’s data, recordings and transcripts, including the copies being held before deletion.
